Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration [ABC - 2022]

Après La Petite Sirène Live!, ABC va proposer une nouvelle émission qui mélange live et animation afin de célébrer les 30 ans de La Belle et la Bête.

L'émission sera produite par Jon M. Chu (In the Heights).
Elle sera diffusée sur ABC le 15 décembre 2022 et sur Disney+ le lendemain.

Bon, c'est sympa ce genre d'émission spéciale... mais à quand de nouvelles captations des Musicals populaires de Disney (et pas d'obscures comédies musicales connues uniquement à NY)?

Je n'avais pas aimé celui de La Petite Sirène... J'avais passé plusieurs séquences pour voir uniquement les acteurs car je trouvais que mélanger le dessin animé au live était un peu décalé et sans intérêt. J'aurais préféré une comédie musicale pure et simple que ce mélange :/

Je pense donc faire la même chose avec la Belle et la Bête.

Ouf, elle est black ! J'avais peur qu'elle soit blanche...

Cette obsession de la couleur de peau même pour une émission ABC est quand même assez stupéfiante, je trouve. Pendant ce temps, des actrices noires et whites se relaient pour jouer Belle dans la comédie musicale actuellement à Londres, et tout le monde s'en fout. Idem pour Satine dans Moulin Rouge ! et j'en passe...

Enfin bon, c'est bien la preuve qu'il faut que Disney continue encore davantage dans cette direction.

Je me demande s'ils feront appel à un comédien du film d'animation pour présenter (Paige O'Hara notamment), comme ce fut le cas avec Jodi Benson pour La Petite Sirène Live!. Pour ce dernier, ils avaient ajouté des chansons de la version Broadway, est-ce que ce sera le cas également pour La Belle et la Bête? Voir même celles du Live Action de 2017?
Je n'en attends pas grand chose, mais je suis assez curieux de voir ce que cela va donner. Ces émissions sont une bien belle manière de rendre hommage aux films !

Assez surpris du choix de H.E.R., il me tarde d'entendre les chansons de Belle avec sa voix.
Elle n'est pas sans rappeler un peu Toni Braxton (également chanteuse R&B), Belle à Broadway en 1998, à qui Alan Menken avait écrit la chanson "A Change in Me" (qui est incluse dans le show depuis).

J'estimais qu'il n'était pas nécessaire de ponctuer mon message précédent de lol, mdr ou autres.

La prochaine fois Dash, promis... je ne t'oublierai pas.

Lors de la D23 Expo 2022, de nouveaux noms ont été annoncés pour Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration:


- Josh Groban, artiste nommé aux Tony, Emmy et GRAMMY, et qui a déjà enregistré la chanson Evermore pour le générique de La Belle et la Bête 2017, sera la Bête.
- Joshua Henry, star de Broadway nominée aux Tony et GRAMMY, sera Gaston.
- Rita Moreno, lauréate EGOT, sera narratrice.

Cette réinvention de deux heures sera enregistrée devant un public et sera diffusée jeudi 15 décembre 2022 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EST) sur ABC, et sur Disney+ le lendemain.

Martin Short et Shania Twain finalisent actuellement les négociations pour incarner Lumière et Madame Samovar durant l'émission.

Shania Twain !?!? Voilà qui relance mon intérêt car l'émission l'avait totalement perdu. Même si je pense que je regarderai ses performances sur internet plutôt que de regarder toute l'émission qui, pour moi, ne présente pas grand intérêt Enfin, si sa participation est confirmée bien sûr. Autrement, je ne regarderai même pas

Si y a Shania Twain je regarderais rien que pour elle !

Je ne comprends pas pourquoi il y a une mode de "veste-jupe" par contre. Je ne soulève ça que parce qu'une poupée Cendrillon est sortie avec ce type de veste. Je trouve ça amusant.

Par contre pour le visionnage, ce sera comme La Petite Sirène, je regarderai les parties chantées éventuellement, car l'idée d'inclure le dessin animé est pour moi inutile.

J'avais totalement raté la petite sirène l'an dernier.
J'avais vu La Mélodie du Bonheur, il y a quelques années et c'était vraiment très bien en format comédie musicale live.

Oh super ! Il y a donc bien Martin Short ET Shania Twain ! Pour eux, je regarderais sûrement... Du moins leur partie chantée. Je ne pense pas regarder en entier.

Une phrase chantée, c'est peu, mais l'extrait était pas mal ! La mise en scène est jolie. Rien que le médiator avec la rose montre à quel point les créateurs poussent le détail. Je ne sais pas si je trouve ça de trop ou au contraire très bien

Later this week, ABC will broadcast the animated and live-action blended special Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration... but before you can say “bonjour,” D23: The Official Disney Fan Club can exclusively announce that Disney Legend Paige O’Hara and Richard White will cameo in the star-studded spectacle! Presented by The Wonderful World of Disney, the two-hour reimagining of the beloved story Beauty and the Beast was taped in front of a live audience at Disney Studios and will air Thursday, December 15, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and will be available stream on Disney+ Friday. (Pre-save music from the special before the album debuts on Thursday, December 15.)

O’Hara and White’s cameos should delight fans of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 1991 animated feature film Beauty and the Beast, as they voiced Belle and Gaston, respectively. In Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration, O’Hara will play a librarian, while White will play a baker. The two stars will appear in the opening number, “Belle.” Keep an eye out for some additional Easter eggs, like the sign for Woolverton’s Books (above), which is named after Linda Woolverton—who wrote the screenplay for the classic film.

Not only that, but Disney Legend Alan Menken, composer of the original animated film, will also makes a fun cameo in “Belle.” Look for him playing piano on the song!

Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration has no shortage of superstars. As previously announced, five-time Grammy- and Academy Award-winning singer-songwriter H.E.R. will play Belle, Josh Groban will play the Beast, Joshua Henry will play Gaston, Martin Short will play Lumière, David Alan Grier will play Cogsworth, Shania Twain will play Mrs. Potts, Leo Abelo Perry will play Chip, Rizwan Manji will play LeFou, and Jon Jon Briones will play Maurice, while the imitable Rita Moreno will serve as the narrator.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of when Beauty and the Beast became the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. The film went on to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, while the song “Beauty and the Beast” won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1992.


Jon M. Chu, who is in an overall deal with Disney Television Studios, executive produces Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration, with Hamish Hamilton directing and executive producing. Caitlin Foito, Raj Kapoor, Richard Kraft, and Katy Mullan are also executive producers, and H.E.R. is a producer. Done+Dusted, in association with Walt Disney Television Alternative and Electric Somewhere, are producing the special. The creative team for Beauty and the Beast: a 30th Celebration includes set designer Julio Himede, choreographer Jamal Sims, and costume designer Marina Toybina.
