- Shanghai Disney Resort Promotes the Importance of Fire Safety with Engaging and Fun Events for Children and Guests
Shanghai Disney Resort is working with Shanghai Fire Bureau to deliver fire prevention education to local children and guests through fun and engaging activities in the resort, in support of the National Fire Prevention Day on November 9. The campaign at Shanghai Disney Resort marks the sixth consecutive year for the resort to support and participate in Fire Prevention Day. Through both engaging and educational interactions with children and guests visiting the Shanghai Disney Resort, the resort is increasing awareness of the importance of fire safety knowledge in Shanghai and throughout China.
As a highlight of the resort’s fire safety campaign this year, an advanced technology fire truck, a fire motorcycle and a group of equipped firemen in service at Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone Fire Station made a surprise appearance to guests as the Shanghai Disneyland Parade Grand Marshal, joined by beloved Disney character Timon from the classic Disney animation movie The Lion King, who also plays the leading role in the Disney Wild About Safety - Safety Smart® series videos.
The Disneytown Fire Safety Experience, jointly hosted by Shanghai Disney Resort and Shanghai Fire Bureau, kicked off early at Disneytown on November 4 and will provide fire safety interactive experiences and help enhance safety awareness to guests visiting this area throughout the entire Fire Safety Week and continuing through November 12.
Earlier this week, the resort has also brought the Disney Wild About Safety – Safety Smart® About Fire! animated educational video and fire prevention games and activities to Xin Cheng Elementary School in Pudong District where the resort is located, to officially kick off the campaign in the community. Shanghai Disney Resort donated nearly 1,000 sets of Disney Wild About Safety - Safety Smart® film series DVDs and interactive materials, developed by Disney Publishing Worldwide, to the Shanghai Education Bureau, which have been delivered to all elementary schools and 16 local Education Bureaus in Shanghai. Following the donation, students in Shanghai local elementary schools will all have the opportunity to learn essential fire safety education through the film series during the Fire Prevention Day this year.

Welcome to Disneyland Paris |

Welcome to Disneyland Paris |

- Shanghai Disney Resort Inspires Environmental Awareness with Nature Exploration Activities
Resort is transformed into a nature classroom during the spring season, celebrating Disney Earth Month with brand new conservation-themed activities
Shanghai Disney Resort kicked off its Disney Earth Month celebration this year by introducing a series of nature and conservation themed activities throughout the resort, turning the resort into a nature classroom for children and their parents. From today through April 22, guests visiting Shanghai Disney Resort can discover multiple “Celebrate Earth” activities in Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown, the resort hotels, and Wishing Star Park, the living ecosystem located adjacent to the theme park. As a highlight of this year’s Earth Month, Shanghai Disneyland launched the brand new “Nature Exploration” program in one of the park’s themed lands – Gardens of Imagination, which has been transformed into a floral fantasy world as the warm weather spreads across the city. While parents and young children are enjoying the beauty of flowers, flowering trees, shrubs and perennials blooming throughout the themed land, they are also invited to explore nature by themselves through searching for butterflies, learning about plants, and sharing ideas about protecting the environment. Nature Exploration Guides are available from Cast Members in this themed land to aid guests in their nature journey, and through which young guests will learn how to care about animals, nature and the environment through the actions they take each day. Guests who successfully complete the exploration mission will also have an opportunity to be chosen as the grand marshal for the park’s fun-filled parade, Mickey’s Storybook Express. After its successful premiere at Shanghai Disneyland last year, “Xiao Tui,” the magical talking recycle bin, will return to the theme park this April, talking about conservation with guests and encouraging everyone to take action, including how they can make small changes in their lives to help protect the environment and get connected with nature. Guests will also discover a wide range of spring and nature-themed interactive activities at Disneytown and Wishing Star Park. From April 13 to 22, a “Celebrate Earth Spring Carnival” will be held at Disneytown, featuring a series of fun and engaging environmental activities, under multiple unique themes, such as low carbon actions and animal and habitat conservation efforts. The activities at Disneytown will be jointly hosted by Shanghai Disney Resort together with its environmental protection friends, including the Shanghai International Resort, Shendi Group, Shanghai Metro, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) China, Shanghai Roots & Shoots, WildAid, and China Blue. This year’s Outstanding Ranger Team from WWF China’s 2018 Tiger Habitat Ranger Competition will also pay a special visit to Disneytown on April 16 and share the importance of protecting wild tigers in China. During this period, a Springtime Lawn Party will also be hosted on weekends where families and friends of all ages can come together and get connected to nature. On select Saturdays in April, Wishing Star Park will provide the perfect opportunity for parents and children to enjoy a scenic stroll around Wishing Star Lake where they are able to take in the park’s natural greenery. At the end of their guided tour, guests can even have the chance to pot plants which they can take home. Guests can subscribe to the Disneytown WeChat account for more information and to sign up at no cost. What’s more, guests staying at the resort hotels will have the chance to experience nature-friendly additions to their stays, including environmentally themed activities in the children’s play room at Toy Story Hotel, and a refreshing morning nature walk around the flora-and-fauna-rich Wishing Star Park adjacent to Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.

- Shanghai Disney Resort Announces the Disney Imaginations Shanghai Design Competition
Introduced to Shanghai for the first time, the competition will inspire creativity and innovation in college students
Shanghai Disney Resort just announced plans to launch Disney Imaginations Shanghai, a design competition based on Walt Disney Imagineering’s renowned Imaginations Design Competition, in Shanghai for the first time this summer. The Disney Imaginations Shanghai seeks and nurtures the next generation of diverse dreamers and doers who combine storytelling with the latest technologies to create immersive experiences for Disney theme parks, resorts and attractions. Students from select universities across Shanghai will be invited to participate in the competition where they will use their technical, artistic and creative skills to propose hypothetical concepts for an entertainment-focused experience or product. These projects are not intended to be built by Disney but serve as a creative exercise for the participating students and an opportunity for Shanghai Disney Resort to look for future theme park designers. The finalist teams will compete for the first place award during the final competition hosted at Shanghai Disney Resort, and the winning team will be eligible to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience at Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) in Glendale, California, fully sponsored by Shanghai Disney Resort. Members of the winning team will also be offered an internship at Shanghai Disney Resort, where they can gain unique educational and professional industry experience. Shanghai Disney Resort is a magical destination filled with creativity and happiness, creating memories for millions of guests from China and around the world. Since the resort’s April 2011 groundbreaking, the cultivation of local talent and the collaborative teamwork of local and international professionals have been essential in developing, designing and creating a Shanghai Disney Resort that is “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese.” The resort continues to bring the best of Disney’s creative practices to China, and also recruits and trains local talent to join Disney’s creative force. The introduction of Disney Imaginations Shanghai is an example of the resort’s commitment to nurturing, cultivating and inspiring young talent through creativity and imagination. The competition also represents a unique opportunity for participants to showcase their talent for integrating innovative and globally diverse ideas. Started in 1991 by Disney Legend and Imagineering executive, the late Marty Sklar, the annual Imaginations Design Competition is renowned for seeking out the next generation of Disney Imagineers. Some participants even go on to internships or full-time positions at Walt Disney Imagineering, the creative force that imagines, designs and builds all Disney theme parks and resorts worldwide. Inspired by the idea of this acclaimed design competition, the Disney Imaginations Hong Kong was launched by Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in 2011. Now, Shanghai Disney Resort is launching Disney Imaginations Shanghai, a program that invites passionate students to showcase their talents in creative entertainment and win opportunities to work with leading experts in the theme park industry. The first Disney Imaginations Shanghai design competition will pilot at select universities across Shanghai, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai Theatre Academy, East China University of Science and Technology, Donghua University and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, with support from the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission. Starting next week, Shanghai Disney Resort will launch a roadshow at these select universities to introduce more details and call for applications.
