| Hong Kong Disneyland Resort communique sur les résultats de l'année fiscale 2021 qui s'est achevée le 2 octobre 2021 et annonce Momentous, le nouveau spectacle nocturne sur le Castle of Magical Dreams : - Citation :
- Hong Kong Disneyland sees record high local attendance and annual pass membership with the launch of new Castle of Magical Dreams and daytime show
First-of-its-kind nighttime spectacular will drive additional visitation in 2022
Today, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) reported its business results for fiscal year 2021 (FY21). Despite adverse business and operating conditions, the resort’s local attendance grew by 117% year-on-year, while the Magic Access (annual pass) membership base expanded by 55% year-on-year, both at record highs. Local young adult attendance also hit a record high and the number of student Magic Access membership jumped 132% from FY20.
Over the past year, inbound tourism into Hong Kong has essentially remained at a standstill due to the ongoing travel restrictions imposed under the COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, the travel industry has continued to be hard-hit, meaning that the city’s tourism destinations including HKDL continued to face a challenging business and operating environment.
In FY21, HKDL’s theme park did not operate for around 40% of the calendar days taking into account the mandatory closure under the government’s anti-epidemic requirements as well as the business impacts brought on by the pandemic. Additionally, the resort’s hotels continued to run at an adjusted operating level.
In spite of these challenges, in FY21, HKDL’s total attendance rebounded to 2.8 million, up 64% year-on-year. Revenue for the year grew by 19% to HK$1.7 billion. Also, the resort’s mitigation efforts resulted in a decrease by 8% in costs and expenses, even though additional costs were incurred due to further preventive health measures, and the resort was able to maintain staff without any layoffs over the past two years. This is in addition to the 41% year-on-year decrease in costs in the prior year.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (“EBITDA”) for the year under review improved by 34% to negative HK$970 million. Net loss narrowed to HK$2.4 billion, which represented a 12% improvement compared to the prior year. After adjusting for the available capacity, the resort’s hotel utilisation rate was 77% in FY21, compared with 34% in the prior year.
Milestone offerings drives record highs for local attendance and Magic Access
“HKDL made deliberate efforts to preserve jobs in FY21, and thanks to our cast members’ dedication and resilience, we continued to deliver exceptional guest satisfaction and positive results with local guests,” said Michael Moriarty, managing director at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. “We are cautiously optimistic in our outlook ahead of the future gradual resumption of inbound tourism. Our new Castle of Magical Dreams, which has yet to be experienced by guests from outside of Hong Kong, as well as our daytime show “Follow Your Dreams” and upcoming nighttime spectacular “Momentous”, will be key drivers for local as well as inbound visitation in coming years.”
With its beloved stories and characters, committed cast members and array of new guest offerings, the resort is well-positioned to benefit from the recovery of the local market and inbound tourism. The new nighttime spectacular “Momentous” will be launched later this year with the Castle of Magical Dreams as its backdrop, along with a host of other new offerings to enhance guest affinity and boost visitation. HKDL is also committed to continuously and prudently assessing its business, including prolonged impacts caused by the pandemic, and reviewing strategies as well as future expansion and development plans. To ensure adequate liquidity for continued operations, HKDL drew upon the revolver facility funded by The Walt Disney Company when needed and will continue to closely monitor its operational liquidity as the resort addresses the challenges ahead.
The resort has also continued to implement its health and safety measures after considering the latest guidance from government authorities, including capacity limits, health screenings, temperature checks, mask-on requirements, social distancing, and increased cleaning and sanitization. At the end of FY21, 93% of its full-time cast members had received two doses of vaccine and HKDL will continue to comply with the latest regulations including the vaccine pass requirements. This continued effort and measured approach has earned the confidence and trust from guests, and has received exceptional guest satisfaction ratings. In FY21, 94% of surveyed park guests said their overall experience was “excellent”, “very good” or “good” and 97% felt that their park visits were care-free.
Expanded community contributions and diversity, equity and inclusion awareness drive
HKDL continuously strives to deliver magic to the community by advocating for inclusion and equal opportunities for all. In collaboration with the True Colors Symphony, the largest inclusive orchestra in Hong Kong, the resort created a special reinterpretation of Disney’s classic “A Whole New World” with more than 20 musicians from various backgrounds, ages and abilities. Additionally, in Apr 2021, when many were still at home due to the pandemic, Disney VoluntEARS produced a video series with the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth featuring beloved Disney characters to promote active healthy living through multiple social platforms.
The resort also showcased its dedication to bringing comfort and happiness to the community once the pandemic situation in Hong Kong was under control. Close to 500 people, including children with hearing difficulties, design students and local families, were invited to a preview of the Castle of Magical Dreams before its official opening in Nov 2020. HKDL also resumed its signature “Community’s Got Talent” programme in May 2021 to provide a platform for various organisations to showcase their own talent to guests in the park.
Throughout FY21, HKDL continued to explore innovative ways to fulfil children’s wishes and create special Disney journeys for young patients. One such example was the resort’s partnership with Josephine, a Wish Kid from Make-A-Wish Hong Kong, to design and produce a limited-edition jewellery collection for charity sale. The resort also produced a dedicated digital version of “Follow Your Dreams” for exclusive screening at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, to help relieve the stress of young patients and their families.
In light of increasing demand for food assistance, a new meal box donation programme, “Disney Meal Box Express” was introduced in Jun 2021 with over 12,500 healthy and freshly-cooked meal boxes provided to local families. HKDL also continued to expand its surplus food donation programme with Foodlink Foundation to help local residents.
More recently during the fifth wave of the pandemic outbreak, the resort is launching new and enhanced community initiatives under three major pillars. These include the enabling of essential facilities; powering up the community with free online storytelling video series for families and kids, food and essential materials donations to ethnic minority and underrepresented families; as well as appreciation efforts for the dedication and professionalism of medical staff and other frontline workers.
HKDL is committed to contributing to Hong Kong and serving the local community. In the past 16 years of operations combined, the resort brought approximately HK$115.3 billion of value-added to Hong Kong’s economy, equivalent to 0.29% of Hong Kong’s GDP, and cumulatively created 274,200 jobs (in terms of man-years), benefiting Hong Kong’s overall economy. On average, HKDL employed around 5,000 full-time and over 1,200 part-time staff during FY21, remaining one of Hong Kong’s largest employers in the tourism and family entertainment industry. Over the last 16 years, Disney VoluntEARS served a total of 111,000 volunteer hours in the community.

- Hong Kong Disneyland Celebrates Their Reopening
The magic is back at Hong Kong Disneyland! Guests were welcomed back to the park on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
To kick start the festivities, Disney friends, the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Ambassadors, and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s Managing Director, Michael Moriarty, held a special welcome moment for guests as they strolled down Main Street, U.S.A. “#TheMagicIsNow! It’s time to reunite and feel the magic once again,” said Moriarty.
There were many friendly faces to be seen at the welcome moment and throughout the resort on this special day including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip ‘n’ Dale. Also seen dancing along to the welcome moment were Snow White and Dopey, along with Alice and the White Rabbit, Disney Princesses including Cinderella, Jasmine, Belle and Tiana, Duffy the Disney Bear, ShellieMay, StellaLou and ‘Olu Mel, as well as Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore!
“I’m really thrilled about our long-awaited park reopening! It’s a great feeling to once again be working face-to-face with my fellow teammates, and to welcome our guests returning to this magical place!” said Audrey Leung, Guest Relations Host, Park Operations.
As guests entered the park and reunited with friends, family and loved ones, they were thrilled to discover an array of surprises. From Instagram-friendly desserts such as White Chocolate & Strawberry Cheesecake to two brand new photo spots, the day was filled with fun and laughter.
“Just hearing the park’s background music makes me feel like I’m home! The Magic is Now!” said Stephen Yeung, Executive Sous Chef – Park, Food & Beverage.
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s commitment and support of its guests and community extends beyond the park. During closure, the resort partnered with local non-profit organizations to support more than 2,000 underserved families during this difficult time. Overall, Disney-themed merchandise items and other essential materials, including toys, masks and food, were donated to more than 15,000 individuals. With the announcement of their reopening, Hong Kong Disneyland doubled the magic of previous ticket donations by giving out a total of 10,000 park admission tickets to seven local nonprofits!
We want to give a big thank you to all of our cast members for their hard work and dedication in making reopening day possible and such a resounding success. https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/hong-kong-disneyland-celebrates-their-reopening/ |

- The Most Magical Show on Earth “Momentous” redefines Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s nighttime magic from June 18
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort lit up the night sky this evening with the memorable premiere of its highly-anticipated “Momentous” – The Most Magical Show on Earth. Through music and multi-sensory elements that envelop the Castle of Magical Dreams, guests at the premiere were taken on the most magical journey with beloved Disney and Pixar characters. The new nighttime spectacular is filled with inspiring and sentimental moments that bring the Castle of Magical Dreams to life once again, delighting guests and brightening their families’ night when it officially launches this Saturday, June 18*.
At tonight’s ceremony, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were joined onstage by officiating guests Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, and Michael Moriarty, managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
“Hong Kong Disneyland Resort's brand-new nighttime spectacular will take the magic to a whole new level and bring the Castle of Magical Dreams to life. Our talented local and international cast members began working on this project back when our new castle didn’t even exist five years ago! Add in the obstacles to travel during the pandemic, and it’s been a stellar effort from the team overcoming different challenges. We’re proud to unveil this much-anticipated new spectacular for the very first time and we’re sure that our guests will be captivated, wanting to come again and again to watch the most magical show on earth.” said Michael Moriarty, managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
“Despite the daunting challenges of COVID, Hong Kong Disneyland just keeps thinking bolder. And what can be bigger, more awe-inspiring, than ‘Momentous,’ a multimedia storytelling spectacular after five years in the dreaming and creating. After all, the power of Disney magic had attracted more than 88 million guests to Hong Kong Disneyland since its opening in 2005, a number sure to soar in the momentous months, and years, to come.” said Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
Set sail on the journey of lifetime
To take guests on this momentous journey, the new show celebrates each stage of life through a series of six chapters, with projection images of approximately 150 characters from almost 40 Disney and Pixar stories. The show also illuminates the resort’s night sky with a stunning combination of multimedia elements, some of which are being used for the first time ever at Hong Kong Disneyland. The technology includes large-scale projection mapping, water projections, theatrical lighting, lasers, choreographed water fountains, flames, pyrotechnics, and firework effects.
Through “Momentous,” guests embark on the journey of a lifetime, from tender new beginnings and the playful joy of childhood to growing up, finding ourselves, falling in love, overcoming obstacles and reminiscing those who inspire us. It’s a nighttime spectacular that is not-to-be-missed for those looking for an entertaining evening out in Hong Kong.
Meet and connect with beloved characters
While enjoying all the characters, stories, and music in the spectacular, guests can also meet featured characters in person thanks to a brand new “Momentous” backdrop in The Annex! Beloved friends from iconic stories, such as Pixar’s "Coco," "Inside Out," "Toy Story," "Up," and Disney classics like “The Lion King" and “Pinocchio" will appear. Be sure to dress up in the style of your favorite Disney or Pixar character so you can take some unforgettable selfies.
The taste of the magic awaits - enjoy all the #eatertainment on offer
Guests will not want to miss all the splendid #eatertainment around the park before the big show! Guests can begin their night with a bang at Starliner Diner, where they can discover an all-new dessert buffet as well as a free flow of character-themed desserts, including an Aladdin Chai Tea Mango Mousse Cake, a Peter Pan Tinkerbell Lemon Cupcake and many more. After enjoying the “Momentous”-themed dessert buffet, head to the special reserved viewing area to savor the main course of the night – “Momentous.”
Still in the mood for snacking? Take the #eatertainment experience to the next level after dark! Try the Lychee Flavored Special Drink or Blueberry and Blackcurrant Flavored Special Drink, both with a Mickey Glow Cube that guests can keep as a souvenir. Or pick up a Blossom Cotton Candy with Lighted Rod, which glows in the dark!
Shine bright with magical merchandise
To celebrate the awe-inspiring arrival of “Momentous,” the resort has created a brand-new series of light-up items, including personalized headbands, disposable masks, necklaces, limited edition pins, glow wands, headbands with interchangeable light-up BOW and T-shirts with reflective color effects, so guests can create an eye-catching nighttime look. These items feature a one-of-a-kind logo that embodies the theme of the show, with bright colors representing the vibrant and kaleidoscopic nature of the performance. Collect them all to relive your special night of light, laughter, and love.
Extend the magic long into the night
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort becomes even more enchanting as the night goes on! Don’t let the magic end too soon and extend the fun by staying overnight.
Make the stay complete with a “Starlight Picnic” and Admission to “Momentous” Special Viewing Area Package. Guests will enjoy watching the show from a reserved viewing area, along with a picnic with Disney movies and a themed picnic basket before bed. To make every moment of this “Momentous” experience even more memorable, guests can participate in an arts and crafts workshop to hand-make themed pen holders or neon light clocks with their loved ones.
Explore not-to-be-missed nighttime beauty in the park
With the launch of “Momentous,” the park is filled with even more magic after dark. There are lots of different ways to explore the beauty of Hong Kong Disneyland every evening.
- Go on thrilling adventures – When night falls across the park, everything seems just a little bit more mysterious. Become an explorer and boldly experience the park with a night voyage aboard the Jungle River Cruise to feel the magic of the park under the stars.
- Indulge in a world of fantasy – The nighttime atmosphere of the park is the perfect time to rediscover iconic locations. When night falls, guests can share their “un-birthday” with loved ones under the different colored lanterns above the Mad Hatter Tea Cups or experience life from a toy’s perspective when meeting up with friends in Toy Story Land, which is also a great location for a cute date.
- Explore more fun along the way – Hong Kong Disneyland is also the perfect backdrop for taking creative photos, and the Instagram pictures will look even more magical at night. Main Street, U.S.A. is ideal for “light writing” after dusk — guests can turn on a light and “write” their own name in the dark. And in Fantasyland, the façade of “it’s a small world” features dreamy colors that are beautifully amplified at night.
- “Magic Snap” Personal Nighttime Photography Service – To capture the nighttime beauty of the park and take perfect photos, try out the brand new “Magic Snap” offer, where a private photographer will accompany guests on a photo journey across the park. Take photos at the Castle of Magical Dreams, the Cinderella Carousel, and the Mad Hatter Tea Cups. Bring home the memory with a 3-D photo frame to commemorate the magical night out.
Introducing a brand-new ticket series to share memories with loved ones
The resort has designed a series of eight new tickets to celebrate the launch of the “Momentous” nighttime spectacular. These designs are in line with the show’s logo, with bright and vibrant colors echoing the kaleidoscopic nature of the performance. The tickets feature Dumbo, Elsa, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Miguel, Judy, Woody, and Moana. Can you collect them all?
It’s time to make new memories! Start planning now and get ready for a magical journey. First, pick a date to visit with friends and make an online reservation. Then, book an #eatertainment dining experience and be sure to get a Disney inspired outfit ready for unforgettable photos in the resort. Last but not least, get the “Disney Premier Access” to “Momentous” to enjoy a hassle-free experience and maximize fun time in the park!
*The nighttime spectacular will be running on every Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Jun 18 – Aug 14, 2022; and will be running five nights a week (except Tuesday and Thursday) on Aug 15 – 28, 2022. Guests can also refer to Hong Kong Disneyland Resort's website for the latest information about show frequency.

| Duffy The Disney Bear fête aujourd'hui son vingtième anniversaire !
