Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Hong Kong Children’s Hospital Team Up to Launch “Dress Well” Project

Young patients at Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (HKCH) will experience some new Disney magic during their time at the hospital through the new “Dress Well” project, which brings a series of custom-designed Disney-themed clothing to HKCH for patients to wear during their stay. The Walt Disney Company has donated HK$4.1 million to support this first-of-its-kind project, which was designed through a collaboration between Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) and the hospital and launched today at a special ceremony at HKCH.

“Last March, The Walt Disney Company announced its US$100 million global commitment to help reinvent the patient and family experience in children’s hospitals around the world. Here in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort also fully supports the first specialist hospital for children in Hong Kong and its pediatric patients, bringing them happiness and empowerment,” said HKDL Resort Managing Director Samuel Lau. “Combining the expertise of both Hong Kong Children’s Hospital and Disney, we have created clothing for child patients that embraces practicality and fun elements, encouraging them with Disney’s magic and power.”

“The new patient clothing is one of HKCH’s children-friendly initiatives to enhance the patient journey. The cheerful design, alongside the home-like environment of the hospital, should help reduce anxiety and add some joy to uplift the healing experience of our pediatric patients,” said Hospital Authority Chairman Professor John Leong Chi-yan at today’s ceremony.

The clothing has been created with pediatric patients’ special needs in mind and is intended to be visually appealing, comfortable and functional. The “Dress Well” project spans three categories—regular pajamas, jackets and pajama tops for intravenous therapy—with different patterns and designs for both young children and teenagers. With silhouettes of familiar Disney characters hidden within the colorful, nature-inspired patterns, every item provides young patients with opportunities for treasure-hunting fun. The apparel is made from a soft fabric that features a higher cotton content for a gentle touch and reduced irritation, and side openings on the pajama top provide more body coverage and privacy for patients undergoing intravenous therapy while still facilitating their clinical care.

The Walt Disney Company’s commitment to HKCH’s “Dress Well” project is part of Disney’s Team of Heroes philanthropic initiative and outreach program, which launched in March 2018 to reimagine and improve the children’s hospital experience around the globe.

The Hospital Authority Chairman, Professor John Leong, expressed gratitude to the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) at a launching ceremony today (September 6) for its generous donation of $4.1 million to support Hong Kong Children's Hospital (HKCH) in its "Dress Well" project.
 
     The "Dress Well" project is the first of its kind in public hospitals. It covers the design and production of a series of clothing for HKCH patients to wear during their hospital stay. Other officiating guests at the ceremony today included the Hospital Authority Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin; the Kowloon Central Cluster Chief Executive, Dr Albert Lo; the HKCH Hospital Governing Committee Chairman, Mr John Lee; the HKCH Hospital Chief Executive, Dr Lee Tsz-leung; the Disney Parks Eastern Region President and Asia Pacific Managing Director, Mr Michael Colglazier; the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) Managing Director, Mr Samuel Lau; the HKDL Communications and Public Affairs Vice President, Ms Linda Choy; the TWDC General Manager, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Mr Kerwin Lo; and the HKDL Entertainment and Costuming Director, Ms Annie Wharmby.
 
     "The new patient clothing is one of HKCH's children-friendly initiatives to enhance the patient journey. The cheerful design, alongside the home-like environment of the hospital, should help reduce anxiety and add some joy to uplift the healing experience of our paediatric patients," Professor Leong said in his thanksgiving remarks at the ceremony.
 
     Professor Leong also expressed appreciation to the HKCH and HKDL teams, who worked together to design the new patient clothing. "Taking paediatric patients' special needs into consideration, the designs combine visual appeal, comfort and functionality," he said.
 
     The "Dress Well" project covers three categories of inpatient clothing at HKCH, including regular pyjamas, pyjama tops for intravenous therapy and jackets. Different colour tones are adopted for male and female patients, and there are different patterns for young children and teenagers.
 
     Silhouettes of familiar Disney characters are hidden among colourful, nature-inspired patterns to offer treasure-hunting fun. Besides using fabric with higher cotton content for a softer touch and to reduce irritation, there will be side openings on the pyjama top for patients undergoing intravenous therapy for more body coverage and respect while facilitating clinical care.
 
     Also speaking at the ceremony, Mr Lau said, "Last March, TWDC announced its US$100 million global commitment to help reinvent the patient and family experience in children's hospitals around the world.      HKCH will be the tertiary referral centre for serious, complex and uncommon paediatric cases requiring multidisciplinary management. Clinical services will commence in phases, starting with specialist outpatient services on December 18, followed by the gradual commissioning of inpatient services in 2019.

Hong Kong Disneyland garde aujourd'hui portes closes suite au passage imminent du super typhon Mangkhut (de niveau 10) sur Hong Kong, poursuivant sa route vers le delta de la rivière des perles après avoir frappé les Philippines et Taiwan ce samedi.

Hong Kong Disneyland restera encore fermé aujourd'hui lundi à la suite du super typhon Mangkhut, celui-ci ayant provoqué des chutes d'arbres et d'autres dégâts dans le Parc lors de son passage sur Hong Kong.

J'ai peur pour l'intérieur du parc ...

Impressionnant mais en une journée où deux tout aura disparu je suppose. J'espère qu'il n'y a pas eu de mort ou de blessé

Oui, si ce n'est que des arbres à nettoyer, ça devrait être aussi rapide qu'à Walt Disney World.

La première journée, ils retirent le "plus gros" (sur la voirie, les chemins d'évacuations etc...) et le plus dangereux et au fur-et-à-mesure des jours suivants, tout le reste. Reste plus qu'au pauvre service horticulture à repasser pour donner l'harmonie aux plantes, arbres et paysages après le nettoyage.

Dans le cadre des célébrations de son 90ème anniversaire, Mickey a quitté Hong Kong Disneyland le temps d'une visite à Sai Kung, petite ville en bord de mer d'aspect tranquille avec ses restaurants de poissons et fruits de mer le long de la promenade !

Hong Kong Disneyland rouvre aujourd'hui même si certaines zones du Parc, activités et services ne seront pas encore totalement accessibles aux visiteurs car nécessitant toujours des réfections et réparations suite aux dégâts causés dimanche par le super typhon Mangkhut.

C'est très impressionnant de voir un parc Disney dans cet état de désolation totale. Voire même hallucinant, on se croirait dans un monde post apocalyptique.

Tout à fait, ça fait bizarre et contraste avec la perfection des parcs Disney où tout est toujours très bien entretenu (peinture, plante, propreté...).

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Announces 2019/20 New Ambassador To Herald Expansion Phase and Spread Magical Power to Community

As Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) marks its 13th anniversary today, it announced Melody Leung, a Cast Member from Hotel Operations, Business Solutions & Events, has been selected as the 2019/20 Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Ambassador, effective January 1, 2019. Leung is the 8th Ambassador at HKDL and is prepared to work in tandem with the resort in heralding a series of new exciting developments in the next two years and committed to spreading the magical power of HKDL to every corner of the community.

HKDL selects an Ambassador among 5,000-plus full-time Cast Members every two years. As a representative of HKDL and all Cast Members, the Ambassador devotes time to community services, such as participating in Disney VoluntEARS activities, to spread Disney’s magical power and positivity to the community. The Ambassador also represents HKDL to host worldwide guests, organize and take part in different events to solidify the team spirit among Cast Members.

New Chapter with an International Vision

The road to be an Ambassador that Leung has walked through is a proof of Disney magic. Leung joined the Disney International College Program in 2010 and interned at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort of Walt Disney World Resort when she met Vanessa Rosas, the Ambassador of Walt Disney World Resort at the time. She personally experienced with Vanessa the Ambassador’s powerful influence of passion and energy and has since then been inspired to work hard and equip herself, toward the goal of becoming the Ambassador of HKDL. Having worked at the resort hotels across Walt Disney Resort in Florida, Disneyland Paris and HKDL over eight years, Leung has accumulated international experience with an open mind and continued to learn. As a Hotel Operations Cast Member, Leung is proficient in four languages and strong in interpersonal communication. All these qualities have led her on a magical journey to achieve her dream.

“The previous Ambassadors were all devoted to serving the community and I am also committed to continuing this caring and serving spirit. In particular, our resort’s recent cooperation with Hong Kong Children’s Hospital in the ‘Dress Well’ project makes me more eager to help young patients and give them more support and joy,” said Leung.

All set for New Developments and Expansion

Leung is excited for HKDL’s multi-year expansion from now till 2023, which will bring new attractions and entertaining experiences to guests, including the newest Marvel ride “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!” debuting next year and the newly transformed castle in 2020. As HKDL continues to evolve with new themes and seasonal events, Leung is eager to share every moment along this special journey with Cast Members and guests.

Two years ago, Sammy Phu from Security, Safety, Fire & Health Services was selected as the HKDL Ambassador. As a relatively mature Ambassador, Phu broke down stereotypes of the Ambassador and represented Disney’s spirit in bravely pursuing one’s dream. In almost two years, Phu has insisted to visit the park whenever he has time, forging personal relationships with guests from all origins with a friendly smile and charming interactions. He also brought a sense of positivity to the people around him with an optimistic attitude, becoming close friends with Cast Members from various lines of business. Phu will continue to promote the Disney spirit after the end of his ambassadorship and create magical experiences for guests.

Le Parc a repris des couleurs ! On peut constater le travail accompli par les Cast Members de Hong Kong Disneyland Resort en comparant ces photos prises lundi 17 septembre et mardi 18 septembre.

Les résidents des trois hôtels Disney du resort, confinés dimanche dans leurs hôtels respectifs, ont été occupés et divertis par les Cast Members venus travailler malgré les conditions météorologiques. Ceux-ci ont organisé dans les hôtels des animations, jeux et multiples rencontres avec Personnages tout au long de l'alerte.

Si vous passez prochainement par Hong Kong, prévoyez un passage au centre commercial Time Square à Causeway Bay, celui-ci accueillera en effet une exposition organisée par The Walt Disney Archives à l'occasion du 90ème anniversaire de Mickey Mouse : Mickey 90 years of Mickey Exhibition.

L'exposition sera présentée pour une durée limitée : du 21 septembre au 31 octobre 2018 (de 10h00 à 22h00).

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort a inauguré Magic Gateway, un centre de service à la clientèle dans la gare de chemin de fer de West Kowloon à l'attention des passagers en provenance de Chine Continentale.

Situé dans le hall d’arrivée de la gare de West Kowloon, Magic Gateway fourni une assistance aux voyageurs telle que l'information sur le resort et la vente de billets d'entrée au Parc Hong Kong Disneyland mais aussi la possibilité pour ceux séjournant dans les hôtels du resort d'effectuer l'enregistrement en ville, d'y déposer les bagages et de profiter du service de navette gratuit reliant la gare de West Kowloon à Hong Kong Disneyland Resort !
