Insider Tips for A Touch of Disney
For the next few weeks, Disney California Adventure is hosting a unique festival offering Disney fans a taste of Disneyland Resort favorites: A Touch of Disney. We have some hot tips for those of you who are attending this sold-out E-Ticket experience, which runs now through April 19.
Stop and Smell the Churros
What we mean is, take your time. If this is your first visit back to the resort in a while, savor the moment (and the churros too, of course). Disney California Adventure looks fantastic, and A Touch of Disney affords guests the opportunity to stroll the walkways of the park admiring the whimsical designs and colorful architecture. Whether it’s the tongue-in-cheek references sprinkled throughout Hollywood Land, the early 20th century glamour of Buena Vista Street, or the breathtaking rockwork of Cars Land, there is so much to see, and—since the event runs from noon to 8 p.m.—you should take your time and soak it all in.
Dig In
A Touch of Disney is a foodie’s delight, and each ticket includes a $25 gift card good for food (and non-alcoholic beverages)—as well as complimentary parking in the Mickey and Friends parking structure and unlimited PhotoPass.
Favorites from throughout the resort are now offered in the park for this limited time. Been craving a DOLE Whip (who hasn’t)? Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats is offering this Adventureland staple along with its usual host of chilled delights. Missing your Monte Cristo? The Smokejumpers Grill will satisfy that craving. And why not try the impossibly delicious Impossible Chili Waffle Fries? Been longing for your beloved Jumbo Smoked Turkey Legs? The Poultry Palace on Pixar Pier has you covered. Jonesing for the taste of Bengal Barbecue? Head over to Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill for the beef and chicken skewers (and they also have a fantastic plant-based Tacos de Papa)!
The six marketplaces located throughout the park also offer Disney classics, including Walt’s Chili (available at D•Lish) and Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings like you might have enjoyed at Trader Sam’s (at Golden Dreams). LA Style also offered a heaping portion of delicious Impossible Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese, and the Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls from California Craft Brews are a perfect snack.
And favorite eateries Carthay Circle Lounge and Lamplight Lounge are both serving up their staples (reservations are required). Sip a classic martini while nibbling on fine cheeses as you watch the passersby on Buena Vista Street. Or dive into the incredible Lobster Nachos at Lamplight. We missed them so.
And for added convenience and contactless payment, guests can take advantage of mobile food ordering on the Disneyland mobile app. Mobile order makes it easy to schedule when guests want to pick up meals and snacks from the marketplaces or from select participating locations inside the park.
Say Cheese
Plenty of photo opportunities await as you wander the parks, and there are plenty of PhotoPass team members to make sure your moment is picture perfect. Plus, there’s not just one but two special D23 photo opps to find. All signs point to you on Pacific Wharf where, just next to Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop, you’ll find a fun D23-themed photo wall. And over at D•Lish, after you’ve grabbed some of Walt’s Chili, check out the side of the marketplace which has colorful Mickey Mouse illustrations and the message, “Be bold. Be true. Be original. Be you.” Make sure to tag @DisneyD23 on social so we can see!
Fans of the Disney+ hit WandaVision can jump into the middle of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a “televised” photo spot direct from Westview (by way of the Mickey’s PhilharMagic queue).
Characters
A Touch of Disney affords guests the opportunity to see and experience beloved characters in a new way. During our day in the park, we saw Chip and Dale frolicking with oversized acorns in the foliage just next to Smokejumpers Grill. We spied Donald Duck waving to us from a balcony off Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. Goofy and his son, Max, were fishing off the side of Pacific Wharf (although all they seemed to catch was a rubber chicken and a pair of boxers). Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Daisy Duck were walking on the platform of Silly Symphony Springs. Miguel from Coco was in the gazebo in Paradise Gardens Park. Lightning McQueen and Mater were parked in Cars Land. And Joy and Sadness were spreading, well, joy and sadness, by the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind.
Merchandise
It’s the 20th anniversary of Disney California Adventure and the park is chock-a-block with colorful collectibles from T-shirts to pins to mark the magical occasion. Stroll through the classic “department store” Elias & Co to see a wide selection. And fan-favorite shopping spots, such as Off the Page and Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, are open for business. And Trolley Treats is the perfect place to pick up a classic sweet (peanut brittle? candy apple?) to bring home to your friends who may not have been lucky enough to join you. Fair warning: these tantalizing temptations are so scrumptious, they may not make it home!

During your stay, be sure to grab a delicious bite and refreshing drink at GCH Craftsman Bar and Grill or at Hearthstone Lounge, with sit-down dining and new mobile order options available.
If you’re heading to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, here are five things you need to know before your arrival !
1. Check-in online before you arrive to the hotel to save you time, while also promoting physical distancing (you can even check-in online up to five days in advance!). A link to use the online check-in service will be emailed to you before your visit. If you don’t have a Disney account, you’ll need to create one at Disneyland.com to get started.
2. Review the new Health & Safety Acknowledgement prior to your arrival. This is located on the Hotels “Know Before You Go” webpage.
3. Once you arrive, if you have used the online check-in service and have agreed to receive text messages, you can receive a text message when your room is ready. Just stop by the Front Desk to pick up your key. For easy and contactless payments throughout your stay, you can pay for purchases at Disney-operated locations throughout the Resort using your hotel room key with a valid credit card on file. Other forms of cashless payment include debit cards, credit cards, Disney Gift Cards and tap-to-pay cards. Please check locations for the types of payment accepted.
4. Download the Disneyland app, which will play a more important role than ever during your stay. It’s strongly encouraged to plan ahead and utilize mobile ordering for food and beverage purchases from select locations, as well as to check park hours, view maps and other important resort updates. Be sure to download ahead of time, and have your notification and location services turned on your phone.**
5. The morning of check-out, there is no need to visit the Front Desk, unless you receive a message or if you have a question. You will be automatically checked out for your convenience.
Just a reminder ! If you are planning to visit a theme park during your stay, you will need a valid theme park ticket and a park reservation for the same park on the same date. Theme park reservations need to be made separately, and a Disney account is required. At this time, only California residents in party sizes no larger than 3 households may visit the theme parks, per state guidance. Here’s a tip: if you plan to visit the theme parks, make your theme park reservation first before booking your hotel room, as a resort hotel room reservation does not guarantee theme park access. For room reservations and travel packages, visit Disneyland.com, call (714) 956-MICKEY or contact your travel professional starting April 15, 2021 for stays beginning April 29, 2021.
The Disneyland Resort is committed to your health and well-being, so we have implemented enhanced cleaning procedures and the measures mentioned above. During the phased reopening, some hotel services, dining, amenities, activities, and offerings may be modified, limited in capacity or unavailable in order to accommodate physical distancing. Guest ages 2 and older must wear an appropriate face covering in public areas at the hotel, including those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. Guests may remove their face covering while swimming or actively eating or drinking, but must be stationary when consuming food or beverages, and maintain proper physical distancing. For other health and safety guidelines, please be sure to visit Disneyland.com or the Disneyland app for the latest details.
At Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, take in the tranquility of the towering trees, the breathtaking Craftsman-style architecture, the incomparable location and the impeccable Disney service, and you’re sure to make magical memories with your family.
We thank you for joining us, and we can’t wait for you to be our guest!

Attractions and Entertainment Reopening Details for Disneyland Resort Theme Parks
As we gear up for the planned reopening of Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park on April 30, we’re excited to share details about the attractions and entertainment you will be able to experience on your next visit.
There will be plenty of magic to go around in different and new ways, including surprise appearances by favorite Disney friends! Plus, most of your favorite attractions will be available at both parks for you to enjoy. As we’ve noted previously, select attractions and certain experiences that draw large group gatherings—such as parades and nighttime spectaculars—will return at a later date. See full details on Disneyland.com.
Travel to a galaxy far, far away
The remote planet of Batuu is waiting for travelers like you to live your own Star Wars adventure! While you explore Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, experience a climactic battle between the Resistance and the First Order on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Upon reopening, we’ll continue leveraging a virtual queue system for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.* The attraction’s virtual queue is only accessible via the Disneyland mobile app, and you may only experience the attraction by joining the virtual queue. Distribution times for virtual queue enrollment will be twice daily, one in the morning, and one later in the day. Specific times and details will be shared at a later date on Disneyland.com.
* Guests with a valid ticket and theme park reservation who will start their day at Disneyland park will be able to access the virtual queue system and check for an available boarding group in the morning on the day of their park reservation. Guests will need to have their park tickets linked to their Disney account.
* To access the second virtual queue opportunity for later that day, guests must have a valid ticket and park reservation, and have entered Disneyland park, or Disney California Adventure park with a Park Hopper ticket by the second enrollment time. Guests beginning their day at Disney California Adventure Park may then enter Disneyland park with their Park Hopper ticket after 1 p.m. for their boarding group.
You may also come across some familiar faces as you wander Black Spire Outpost, including Rey, Chewbacca and Vi Moradi. They may be spotted above the speeder garage at Black Spire Station. Watch out for Stormtroopers, along with Kylo Ren himself, patrolling a platform where a TIE Echelon starfighter looms.
Chase thrilling adventures and cherish the classics
Hop aboard the wildest ride in the wilderness on the high-speed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – a Disneyland park favorite – taking you past spires and buttes, and into tunnels and shafts of a dark and mysterious mine. If you prefer to rock out with Rocket, grove along to the tunes (and rollin’ drops) on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! in Disney California Adventure park.
For a dose of nostalgia in Disneyland park, check out the newly reimagined Snow White’s Enchanted Wish and freshly fancified King Arthur Carrousel in Fantasyland. Then visit the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square, home to 999 happy haunts and a few more spirited enhancements.
Greet beloved Disney friends with a wave
Favorite characters may be spotted throughout the day waving to visiting friends, posing in the background of photos and having fun playing in the parks. At Disneyland park, you may see Mickey Mouse and some of his pals from the steps of the Main Street, U.S.A. railroad station. Or perhaps they may be found outside their homes in Mickey’s Toontown, waving a friendly welcome to visitors of all ages.
You may also see Disney Princesses like Mulan or Belle at the Royal Theatre in Fantasyland or look to the beautiful balconies of New Orleans Square to catch sight of Captain Jack Sparrow. At Rancho del Zocolo in Frontierland, you might also catch intermittent appearances by Miguel from Disney and Pixar’s “Coco.”
Character sightings at Disney California Adventure park may include friends appearing at Carthay Circle and the Pixar Pier bandshell. Disney Junior stars, from Vampirina to Doc McStuffins, may say hello from the stage of the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
Step into your favorite Pixar stories
Zoom through Cars Land in Disney California Adventure park, and brake when you see Lightning McQueen, Mater and Red for photos along Route 66. Afterwards, it’s time for high-octane fun on Radiator Springs Racers to see who is the fastest racer in Ornament Valley!
Over at Pixar Pier, you’ll discover a whimsical boardwalk. Grab a pair of 3D glasses and join Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the gang for an exhilarating spin on Toy Story Midway Mania. You can also join the Parr family for an incredible, high-speed adventure on the Incredicoaster. Pixar Pier is also the perfect place to spot some Pixar pals!
Assemble with Avengers in Hollywood Land
Throughout the day in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure park, cheer for some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Black Panther and the Dora Milaje, as they strike heroic poses from the Hollywood Backlot Stage. These Super Heroes will then be regular visitors at Avengers Campus, when the new land opens on June 4.
Both a theme park reservation and valid admission ticket for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Guests must have a valid theme park admission ticket in order to make a reservation. Theme park reservations will be limited and subject to availability and, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks, and in groups no larger than 3 households, in line with current state guidelines. For details on how to make a theme park reservation, check out our story here.
We hope to see you back at the parks, making special memories in new ways.
*Access to a Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance boarding group is subject to availability and not guaranteed. In order to give as many Guests as possible the opportunity to join the Resistance, each Guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day.
As a reminder, only Guests with a valid admission into Disneyland Park will be able to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, subject to availability. Distribution times are subject to change or cancellation.
