New Details and First Looks at Disney Cruise Line’s Next Ship, Island Destination
At D23 Expo yesterday, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro shared news and updates from Disney theme parks and beyond, including a trove of new adventures in store for Disney Cruise Line guests!
As part of the announcements, Josh unveiled first details on the fleet’s sixth ship, concept art for its new island destination and an all-new vacation experience for Australia and New Zealand residents. I’m excited to share it all with you today!
Disney fans were the first to learn that the next Disney Cruise Line ship will be named Disney Treasure. The ship will be designed with a brand-new motif unlike anything Disney Cruise Line has done before: the theme of adventure. Inspired by Walt Disney’s love of exploration, this new design concept will pave the way for epic experiences that immerse guests in some of the company’s most legendary stories.
So what does adventure look like? Check out this magic carpet ride through the Grand Hall, the Disney Treasure’s gorgeous atrium space.
The Grand Hall will radiate the irresistible allure of adventure, inviting guests to seek all the treasures on board from the moment they embark. Inspired by the grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace, it draws on real-world influences from Asia and Africa and pays homage to the far-off land of Agrabah from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic tale, “Aladdin.”
The signature atrium character statue — a Disney Cruise Line tradition — will be a shining, shimmering, splendid representation of Aladdin, Jasmine and Magic Carpet soaring together toward a whole new world of adventure.
The Disney Treasure is scheduled for delivery in 2024. Following the Disney Wish, which set sail in July, it’s the second of three new ships planned through 2025. The Wish class ships are powered by liquefied natural gas and feature 1,254 guest staterooms.
In Case You Missed It: 3 Disney Treasure Updates from Disney Cruise Line
In the last few weeks, we have shared quite a few exciting updates about the Disney Treasure, our newest Disney Cruise Line ship, which will set sail in 2024. In case you missed it, here’s a quick recap of the latest news!
1. A New Adventure-Themed Ensemble for Captain Minnie Mouse
Onboard the Disney Treasure, guests will discover a brand-new motif unlike anything Disney Cruise Line has done before: the theme of adventure. Embodying the spirit of exploration and discovery, Captain Minnie Mouse revealed a new adventure-ready ensemble created exclusively for the new ship.
2. All-New Bow Artwork for the Disney Treasure
Equipped with her trusty telescope and a mysterious map, Captain Minnie embarked on a quest to uncover a hidden treasure, which ultimately unveiled new artwork that will adorn the bow of the Disney Treasure, continuing a beloved Disney Cruise Line tradition.
3. Keel Laying Ceremony Marks Disney Treasure Maritime Milestone
On March 30, we reached a significant milestone in the construction of the Disney Treasure with the keel laying ceremony at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. In a time-honored maritime tradition, a newly minted coin was placed under the keel of the ship for good fortune. The coin portrayed Captain Minnie Mouse in her new adventure look, styled after the medallion on the bow of the ship.
Captain Minnie Mouse is at the helm of a new Disney Cruise Line adventure as she dons her brand-new ensemble and journeys to faraway lands. Where will her quest take her? Follow along as Captain Minnie discovers a stand-out design detail from the Disney Treasure and reveals it to the world for the first time.
Présentation du Disney Treasure le mercredi 30 août à 11h00 (heure de la Côte Est des États-Unis).

Learn All the New Details About Disney Cruise Line’s Newest Ship, the Disney Treasure
If you missed the reveal of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure, don’t worry – we have all the new details right here! From venturing to colorful plazas in Mexico to navigating the jungle and traveling below the ocean’s surface, the theme of adventure will thread brand-new venues with familiar guest-favorite spaces on board the Disney Treasure.
Let’s take a look at how captivating stories from Walt Disney Animation, Pixar and Disney Parks will be brought to life by Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering in fun and exciting ways for families when this ship debuts in December 2024!
Brand New Dining & Entertainment Inspired By Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios Vibrant, heartfelt adventures from Disney and Pixar will lend inspiration for two all-new venues onboard the Disney Treasure.
Plaza de Coco will be the first theatrical dining experience themed to the Disney and Pixar film, “Coco.” This theater-in-the-round entertainment venue will feature a central stage surrounded by dining tables, with performances and show effects that will spread throughout the room.
On the first night, the story of Miguel and his familia will continue where it left off in the film as they gather in Mariachi Plaza to take your family on a colorful, music-filled journey, including a dinner featuring modern twists on traditional Mexican fare and a lineup of live entertainment. Your family will be invited to join Miguel, his parents, Enrique and Luisa, and Abuelita Elena for a festive gathering that honors the heritage of music and love that runs deep in the Rivera family.
During this seven-night cruise, you will get not one, but two chances to visit this new family dining venue! During your second night at Plaza de Coco, Miguel will reunite with his great-great-grandparents, Hector and Mama Imelda, as he transports them to the town square in Santa Cecilia with the help of his magic guitar. Together, Miguel and his ancestors will celebrate Día de los Muertos – Rivera family style – with a unique lineup of memorable songs from the film.
And to delight your sweet tooth – the new sweetshop onboard the Disney Treasure, Jumbeaux’s Sweets, will be reminiscent of the popular ice cream parlor, Jumbeaux Café, from the bustling mammal metropolis featured in Disney’s “Zootopia.” Surrounded by playful pink interiors, Victorian-style architecture and an endearing sculpture of Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, your family can indulge in more than 35 flavors of handmade gelato, ice cream and sorbets, specialty treats, candies and more.
Disney Theme Park Adventures on the High Seas For the first time ever, the nostalgia and lore from beloved theme park attractions will come to Disney Cruise Line with a unique lineup of all-new Disney Parks-inspired venues aboard the Disney Treasure.
Skipper Society, a themed lounge near the Grand Hall, will bring Disney Parks’ iconic Jungle Cruise attraction to sea for the first time. But instead of visiting the backside of water, the venue’s natural colorways and camp-style furnishings will pair with sly tributes to the trusty, dry-witted skippers for an elevated, playful atmosphere. You can discover references to the famous attraction throughout the space, from a whimsical monkey-shaped chandelier to postcards and luggage tags brought back from travels abroad, all while snacking on themed cocktails and light snacks beneath a canopy of untamed jungle foliage.
Periscope Pub will become Disney Cruise Line’s first venue inspired by the spellbinding adventure of Walt Disney’s 1954 film, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” and the celebrated Disney Parks attraction that was open at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994. The design of the submarine-style interiors will call upon 19th century steampunk influences with polished metals and industrial touches. A mysterious window into the depths of the uncharted oceans along the ceiling will give you a chance to feel like Captain Nemo on the Nautilus, while a decorative statement rug in the center of the space will honor Captain Nemo’s fabled nemesis, the giant squid. This casual venue will be the ideal onboard location to unwind and watch live sports or news, while ordering from a menu of craft brews and light bites.
Embracing the adventures of the future, the Tomorrow Tower Suite will capture the same forward-thinking mindset that inspired the Walt Disney World Resort theme park, EPCOT, with an energetic design. Throughout the suite, dynamic art pieces, molten metal accents and futuristic, colorful glass accents will evoke the distinct atmosphere of EPCOT’s World Discovery neighborhood. Set high in the ship’s forward funnel, this one-of-a-kind suite will overlook the top deck of the Disney Treasure and glimpse the open horizon through an expansive two-story window. With nearly 2,000 square feet of living space, the Tomorrow Tower Suite will comfortably sleep eight guests and feature areas for eating, sleeping and playing, as well as other perks like a full kitchen and private ensuite elevator.
Classic Disney Adventures in Familiar Spaces Throughout the Disney Treasure, timeless Disney characters and their unforgettable stories of exploration will inspire reimagined spaces.
The Grand Hall will embody the ship’s theme of adventure, with statues and décor that call on the gilded palace and wonder of Agrabah from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic tale, “Aladdin.” The space will serve as the ship’s most prominent gathering space and will offer its own dedicated entertainment moments and surprises.
Just off the Grand Hall, two casual walk-up cafes will serve a selection of coffee, tea, specialty beverages and snacks. With brand-new themes, the cafes will draw inspiration from two brave Disney Princesses – Moana and Mulan – and celebrate their adventures in all-new ways.
Named for Moana’s trusty sidekick, Heihei Café will echo the scalloped seashells and reflective blue waters of the storied Southern Pacific Isle of Motunui as it is portrayed in Disney’s animated feature “Moana.” Meanwhile, the Jade Cricket Café, inspired by the classic Disney film “Mulan,” will honor the Fa Family’s “lucky” cricket, Cri-Kee, who will be represented by a jade sculpture on the bar top.
In addition, Sarabi, a central hub for a multitude of daytime activities and adult-exclusive evening entertainment, will evoke the natural beauty and openness of the savanna where its namesake, the lioness matriarch from Disney’s “The Lion King,” lived.
Disney Cruise Line’s own attraction at sea, AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg, will plunge guests into the world of Mickey Mouse animated shorts. Suspended high above the upper decks, powerful jets will propel two-person ride vehicles through 760 feet of winding tubes, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and the ship below. Onboard the Disney Treasure, AquaMouse will introduce an all-new storyline that follows Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on a zany misadventure into an ancient temple for a glimpse of the legendary treasure within.
With all the exploration and excitement taking place on the ship throughout the day, we know the accommodations will be equally as important to your family! Aboard the Disney Treasure, the 1,246 staterooms will be inspired by classic Disney tales of adventure. These accommodations will feature, custom artwork and design elements that evoke the exploratory spirit of beloved Disney and Pixar films including “Aladdin,” “Pocahontas,” “Up” and “Encanto.” The concierge and royal suites will bring to life the incredible character journeys – and some beloved feline sidekicks – from “The Lion King,” “The Jungle Book” and “Aladdin.”
Classic Disney Cruise Line Favorites Return to the Disney Treasure
Many of your Disney Cruise Line favorites will return to the Disney Treasure and some all-new spaces! In addition to an all-new stage production (we promise: more details will come soon!) coming to the Walt Disney Theatre, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure” will thrill audiences with tales as old as time, while the upper decks will come to life with music and fireworks during the swashbuckling Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party. Worlds of Marvel and 1923 will round out the family dining rotation on the Disney Treasure, while The Rose, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallament will continue to wow adults with exceptional views, gourmet meals and tantalizing beverages.
Adults aren’t the only ones who will have fun on the Disney Treasure! Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Edge, Vibe and It’s a Small World Nursery return to give kids of all ages a designated space to let their imaginations run free under the guidance of Disney-trained counselors.
This is just a glimpse at some of the new spaces coming to the Disney Treasure, which will embark on its maiden voyage, a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida, on Dec. 21, 2024, followed by an inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral. Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club members can book a Disney Treasure cruise as early as Sept. 12, 2023, and bookings will open to all guests on Sept. 20, 2023.
Stay tuned on the Disney Parks Blog for more details in the future on the new stage show, the second night of entertainment in Worlds of Marvel – and even more spaces yet to be revealed!
In the meantime, join us on the road to Destination D23 and let us know what you are most excited about in the comments! And don’t forget to mark your calendars for Sept. 20 to book your inaugural season sailing on the new ship. Adventure awaits!

If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love the Ghoulish Delight, which will combine decadent ube fudge, oat milk and tapioca pearls into a glittery purple concoction, garnished with a gummy eyeball.
A ghostly twist on a classic margarita, presented to guests amidst a swirl of flavored smoke, will be another signature drink at the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Topped with a lemon salt foam, this tequila-based cocktail will contain a secret message, only to be revealed by black light.
The Haunted Mansion Parlor is one of several Disney Parks-inspired venues that will debut onboard the Disney Treasure. The exciting lineup will also include Skipper Society, a lounge inspired by the Jungle Cruise parks attraction, and Periscope Pub, which is inspired by the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea legacy parks attraction.
