Star Wars : Dawn of the Jedi [Lucasfilm - 2026/7]

Après Indiana Jones et le Cadran de la Destinée, le réalisateur James Mangold revient chez Lucasfilm avec un projet de film Star Wars.
Celui-ci se situera à l'époque intitulée "Dawn of the Jedi" sans toutefois avoir de titre précis. Il s'agira d'un film qui ressemblera à une épopée biblique épique racontant l'histoire du tout premier Jedi de l'Histoire de la galaxie.

Voilà un projet très intéressant! Découvrir les origines des Jedi, ça peut enrichir le lore d'une façon très intéressante! Sans compter que cela nous placerait forcément dans une période de la chronologie que nous n'avons jamais vue (en tout cas, dans les films et les séries).

Enfin une iddée interessante.

Ah bien  le thème a du potentiel, et le réal sait filmer du sérieux, si tant est qu'on lui laisse le choix évidemment...

Le synopsis a l'air très intéressant. C'est une bonne idée d'expliquer l'origine des Jedi, bien que ça ne doit pas être simple car il ne s'agit pas de faire n'importe quoi comme avec les films SW précédents.

Oui, il s'agit du Lucasfilm Story Group, créé en 2012 à l'initiative de Kathleen Kennedy.

Il est composé d'une quinzaine de membres dont Pablo Hidalgo, Matt Martin et Phil Szostak.

Depuis 2016, le Lucasfilm Story Group est également en charge de la franchise Indiana Jones et de son développement futur (nouveaux films, séries télévisées, comics, romans, jeux vidéo...).

Oui groupe qui malheureusement n'a été consulté que sur l'épisode IX pour la dernière trilogie afin d'éteindre les incendies d'incohérences qu'étaient en train de créer les films...

Le groupe a été très présent sur Rogue One et Solo qui en terme de respect de l'univers sont impeccables, et il travaille désormais activement sur toutes les productions Star Wars (leur influence est notamment énorme sur l'histoire et la cohérence des jeux vidéo Jedi Fallen order et Survivor).

Concernant ce film, il se déroulera 25 000 ans avant la bataille de Yavin dans une galaxie alors en pleine expansion ça va donc être très très intéressant de découvrir l'origine des jedis et la formation de l'univers qu'on connait aujourd'hui

Et j'ai une confiance absolue en James Mangold pour gérer la réalisation du film

Le film sortira en 2026 ou en 2027.
Les dates des trois prochains films étant :

- 18 décembre 2026
- 17 décembre 2027

Beau Willimon (House of Cards, Andor, Les Marches du Pouvoir, The First) va co-écrire le film.

Beau Willimon is going from House of Cards to House of Jedis.

The playwright and screenwriter has been tapped to work the script for Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, Lucasfilm’s feature that is to be directed by James Mangold.

Willimon is joining Mangold to write the script for the project that will trace the origins of the Force and be set 25,000 years before any of the timelines and stories told by the movies and shows so far.

Dawn of the Jedi, which is a working title, was first unveiled almost exactly one year ago, at the last Star Wars Celebration, held in London in April 2023.

“When I first started talking to Kathy [Kennedy] about doing one of these pictures, what occurred to me was thinking about what kind of genre of movie within Star Wars I wanted to do,” Mangold said at the time. “And I thought about a Biblical epic, like a Ten Commandments, about the dawning of the Force. Where did the Force come from, when did we discover it, when did we learn how to use it?”

The project, like most Star Wars initiatives, had been under a Sith shroud of secrecy ever since.

The feature has no release date, but Mangold is expected to turn his attention to Dawn of the Jedi after he wraps A Complete Unknown, his Bob Dylan biopic that stars Timothée Chalamet and is being made by Disney arm Searchlight Pictures. The next Star Wars movie is slated to be The Mandalorian & Grogu, which on Friday received a May 22, 2026 release date.

Dawn of the Jedi is not Willimon’s first time in hyperspace. The scribe worked on season one of Andor, the acclaimed and Emmy-nominated Star Wars series focused on the character played by Diego Luna. Willimon wrote three episodes, including the prison breakout installment titled “One Way Out.” The episode earned Willimon an Emmy nomination for outstanding writing for a drama series and featured the heartbreaking line “I can’t swim,” uttered by Andy Serkis.

The writer is known for his dramatic prowess and his work features political undertones and deals with themes of power. House of Cards was set in the halls of Washington D.C. and was one of the most acclaimed series of the mid-2010s, helping put Netflix on the map as a destination for original television. He also co-wrote the George Clooney-Ryan Gosling political thriller The Ides of March and created Hulu’s space drama The First.
