Je l'avais acheté comme prévu pour le secteur "Management" de la Bu où je travaille et je l'ai emprunté ce week end.

Livre passionnant dont j'ai lu les 348 pages en quelques heures, bien que le sujet "management" de prime abord  m'inquiétait un peu.
On découvre dans cet ouvrage sa vision du management, l'évolution de sa carrière de ABC à Disney et ses trois grands axes stratégiques pour développer la marque Disney : contenus de qualités - innover pour ne pas subir -  se développer mondialement.

Les parties sur les rachats de Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars sont très enrichissantes et montrent à quel point Bob Iger ne voulait plus que la notoriété de la marque Disney repose sur un seul pilier Disney Animation car lorsque celui ci était vacillant, cela mettait en péril la compagnie.

Il n'omet pas ses frustrations, les écueils, son ambition, notamment sa bataille pour succéder à Michael Eisner.
J'ai trouvé très intéressante sa vision du choc entre la culture ABC et la culture Disney en matière d'organisation, lors de l'acquisition d'ABC par Disney, on comprend que son ressenti à ce moment là, lui aura été très utile dans la manière d'assurer une transition plus facile pour Pixar, Marvel et Star Wars. Il aura aussi profondément changé les méthodes d'organisation et de management de Disney en s'affranchissant du diktat "Strat Planning".
Un livre à découvrir si vous en avez l'occasion.

Les Mémoires du Disney Legend Richard Nunis sortiront à l'automne chez Disney Editions.

Dick Nunis a rejoint Disneyland en 1955 pour ce qu'il croyait être un emploi d'été, il a quitté l'entreprise 44 ans plus tard, le 26 mai 1999 !

Il a été vice-président exécutif de Disneyland et Walt Disney World Resort où il a ensuite supervisé la création des parcs à thème Epcot Center et Disney-MGM Studios. Il fut également consultant pour les parcs Tokyo Disneyland et Disneyland Paris.

Bob Iger is set to pen his second nonfiction work. Random House has acquired the rights to an upcoming book from the former Walt Disney Company CEO, the publishing imprint announced on Tuesday.

Currently untitled, the new work is described as a “playbook on leading in times of crisis and disruption that takes readers behind the scenes for crucial decisions at the highest levels of business, entertainment, and politics.” The book will see Iger, who served as an executive and board chairman of Disney until December 2021, examine how the company and other major corporations have dealt with the health and economic crises caused by the COVID pandemic. The book will see Iger drawing on his experience to share insights on why leaders succeeded or failed during the crisis, and he’ll share tips on managing during a crisis.

“The true test of leadership is how you respond to the unexpected,” Iger said in a statement. “The pandemic challenged all of us like never before, and every day brings new sources of disruption. I hope the principles that guided me during periods of crisis and change throughout my career will help the next generation of leaders face an uncertain future with confidence.”

The North American rights to the book were acquired by Random House executive vice president Andy Ward from literary agent Esther Newberg at ICM. The book is tentatively scheduled to release in 2024.

Iger previously released a memoir, “The Ride of a Lifetime,” in 2019. The book, which focused on his time as the CEO of Disney, was well-received, being named one of the best books of the year by NPR. In addition, it hit No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

Les mémoires de Mary E. Lescher, décédée en juin 2019, sont publiées ce mois-ci par les presses universitaires de l'Université de l'Illinois.

Mary Lescher a fait partie du studio d'animation Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida situé de 1989 à 2004 dans le parc Disney-MGM Studios de Walt Disney World Resort.

Le studio floridien a réalisé des long-métrages d'animation comme Mulan, Lilo & Stitch et Frère des ours, ainsi que des séquences majeures des films Bernard et Bianca au pays des kangourous, La Belle et la Bête, Aladin, Le Roi Lion, Hercule, Pocahontas, Le Bossu de Notre-Dame et Tarzan pour lesquels Mary Lescher est également créditée.

Elle fût curatrice de l'exposition Collectibility: Art and Commodity in the Disney Renaissance qui retraçait la renaissance de l'animation dessinée à la main sur une décénie de 1989 à 1999, de La Petite Sirène à Tarzan.
