La seul chose qui me chagrine est la nouvelle entrée... Je suis vraiment pas fan. Heureusement que nos studios non pas également cette entrée !!!

Je suis vraiment curieux de voir combien de temps va rester le temporaire Goofy's Sky School: même repeint et (légèrement) rethématisé, cette "chose" n'a plus rien à faire dans le parc!

Sa disparition libèrera un espace non-négligeable (comparable au show building de Toy Story Mania!) pour une nouvelle attraction...

Je ne pense cependant pas que ce sera la priorité, on va sans doute le voir ici pour un petit moment.

Oui, si Disney met de l'argent dans cette rethématisation, ce n'est pas pour rien et c'est sûr qu'on va l'avoir plusieurs années malheureusement (au moins 5 ans je dirais)...

La priorité sera logiquement la Phase 2 du Placemaking (Hollywood Land, etc...): il y a encore du boulot!

Ce nouveau "parc" au niveau de l'ancienne zone du Maliboomer m'a l'air vraiment cheap… On verra ce qu'ils préparent pour ça et le futur remplacement de Goofy's High Sky School.

Je viens de voir sur un autre forum un plan du parc qui m'intrigue. On y voit une nouvelle zone dans le parc dont on a jamais entendu parler: Prehistoric California.


Alors, ancien concept abandonné ou nouveauté à long terme?

C'est clairement un fantasme de fan, il a d'ailleurs fait des plans des autres parcs et il faut avouer qu'il a de bonnes idées!

Le temporaire "Maliboomer Park" est ouvert mais... c'est visiblement loin d'être une réussite!!

MALIBOOMER PARK
The "lush new park" that Disney advertised on construction walls as a replacement for the former Maliboomer attraction has opened. On first look the space appears serviceable, but the reality is that the area is an ugly fit for a Disney theme park.


The new walls covering the safety fences surrounding California Screamin' supports are a nice idea, but the execution is quite bad. Throughout the park, the walls are attached to the metal safety fences instead of being custom-designed to sit on the ground. The result is that the new walls float above the ground, making them look like an obvious cheap, quick fix.




The floating walls really make the area look that much cheaper and incomplete.


The handrails for the Maliboomer queue remain intact, just painted white. They disappear into another floating wall.


Queue to nowhere. This is simply bad show.


The cement platform for the Maliboomer is still here. Three trees in wooden boxes sit in the place of the attraction's three launch towers and a new planter with small trees surround the platform on ground level.


A couple benches are available, but who would want to spend time here? Shade structures for the Maliboomer queue can see in the background. They're just green now.


The area isn't so much a park as it is a wide thoroughfare past the grave of a former attraction that had some trees planted around it.


The entire area is a mess. The long-term plans for this space call for a new attraction to absorb this space as well as the nearby Paradise Pier gift shops. Still, even being a temporary solution, this "park" does not belong in a Disney theme park. It looks painfully cheap and it is clearly obvious that the space is the site of an attraction that was removed and not replaced. Of course, this isn't the first time the remains of a closed attraction have lingered for years at Disney California Adventure (Superstar Limo, Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?, Hollywood & Dine), but this is the first time the remains of a shuttered attraction has looked so glaringly bad in the park. At a Resort where money is routinely spent on nicely themed construction walls surrounding construction zones and painted scrims to hide simple repainting projects, this half-hearted "park" area is an embarrassment, especially considering it will be seen by guests for years. Let's hope this "lush new park" doesn't last very long. It's a regrettable corner in a park that is finally starting to look good.

Construction continues on the new Pan-Pacific Auditorium-themed entry gates at California Adventure.


Inside the park, vertical construction on the new Carthay Circle Theater, the new central icon of the park has started. It's just some steel at this point, but exciting nonetheless.


Photos don't really do it justice — this steel framework is already huge, a far cry from the empty openness of Sunshine Plaza.

Dans le cadre du placemaking du parc, l'attraction Redwood Creek Challenge Trail abandonne sa thématisation "Brother Bear".

This is your last weekend to check out the Brother Bear decor added to DCA's Redwood Creek Challenge Trail back in '03. A perfect example of the panicky changes slapped on the park in its early years by a clueless executive team, the Brother Bear totem poles and cartoonish carved logs have overstayed their welcome. The removal process begins Monday, in another small step towards giving the entire Grizzly Peak area a mid 20th century rustic theme instead of circa 2000 hip n' edgy.

BUENA VISTA STREET:
The Pan Pacific entrance at the front of the park is really starting to take on a recognizable shape.
The clean, sweeping curves of the 1920's inspired entrance are exposed further as the scaffolds came down around the four spires.


Work on the Redcar Trolley has now begun at the entrance of the future Hollywood Land.
The middle of the road is walled off but visitors can still access Hollywood Pictures Backlot through this route.


The Carthay Circle Theater has topped out and the smaller bits of framework will now be installed.



PARADISE PIER SHOPPING AND RESTAURANTS:
Paradise Pier's new eating area is coming along at a more rapid pace as work crews attempt to make up for lost time due to heavy spring rains.
It was announced that the area will be ready on June 3rd after all, along with Goofy's Sky school and The Little Mermaid.
Although the projects were running behind, Disney is sparing no expense in making sure they meet the opening date.
We wish them well, they have their work cut out for them.

The Pan-Pacific style entrance into DCA is being surfaced.




The Carthay Circle Theater



The former guest relations booth has been walled in for the further progress on Buena Vista Street. The poor plaids have been relegated to this kiosk nearby.


From the old guest relations booth, all the way down toward Condor Flats, the rest of the awning covered seating area is now behind walls.


No more outdoor seating for a little while.

GOOFY'S SKY SCHOOL:
The sky school is coming along slowly and has been officially pushed back to a July 1st opening. The artwork for the outside walls should be applied soon and vehicles have already begun testing.


PARADISE PIER RESTAURANTS:
The restaurants have been pushed way back and will now officially open on July 1st. Better late than never.
